Savory Seasoning Blends

Walking down the spice isle at your local grocery store can be overwhelming-so many spices to choose from. Here’s a trick that will help simplify your choices and make room in you cupboard. 

I love creating my own spices and honestly it tastes so much better. Plus you can make it your own way like dairy free, nut free, gluten free, vegan, keto, paleo and other alternatives.

You’ll Need…

  • Empty spice jars (or plastic bags) i found my spice jars at the dollar store. 
  • Something to label the jars/bags with

All you need to do is…

  1. Choose the recipe(s) you would like to make
  2. Combine the spices in a mixing bowl and place the spice mix in an empty spice jar. (You could also use plastic bags if you’d like.)
  3. Label each spice combinations and they’re ready to use.
  4. Recipes should be placed in a cool area to reduce caking.
  5. They will stay fresh up to 3 months but if you have them sealed properly, up to 6 months.

Vegetable, Meat and Poultry Seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon parsley

Italian Herb Seasoning (salads and sauces)

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon sage
  • 1 teaspoon marjoram

Cajun Spice Seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Chinese Five-Spice Seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon anis
  • 1 teaspoon fennel
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Onion Soup Mix

  • 4 tablespoons dried minced onions
  • 4 tablespoons instant low sodium or regular or gluten free granulated beef bouillon (you can use chicken bouillon)
  • 1 teaspoon parsley flakes
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried celery seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

The onion soup recipe will make a little over 1/4 cup of the mix. This makes 1 package of Onion Soup Mix from the grocery stores.
