You really only need a handful of ingredients for mango salsa. But with so many ingredient options add a favorite (or leave one out) to make your own customized version. Here are a few of my favorites:

  • Mangos
  • Jalapeños (seeds removed and optional)
  • Avocado
  • Red, Orange and Yellow peppers
  • Red onion
  • Cilantro
  • Tomatoes
  • Lime Juice

How to make the Mango Salsa

  1. Slice each side of the mango just before the seed. Using a sharp knife slice flesh vertically, without breaking the skin. Scoop out the slices and dice.
  2. Chop the onion, cilantro, avocado, tomatoes and peppers.
  3. Combine everything in a bowl, add salt and lime juice to taste.
  4. Chill for 1 hour (or at least 30 minutes before serving)

How to Serve Mango Salsa

Mango salsa has so many possibilities and will bring a fresh flavor to whatever you add it to. These are some of my go-to ways to serve mango salsa.

  • With chips or pita
  • On top of baked or grilled fish or chicken
  • As a condiment on tacos
  • With quinoa or rice
  • In a burrito bowl
  • With fajitas

NOTES

1. Level of Heat: If you prefer a spicier salsa then leave some of the seeds in the jalapenos or chose a spicier pepper such as serrano peppers.

2. Other ingredients to consider in your mango salsa: Serrano Peppers, Banana Peppers, Cucumbers, Black beans, Corn and Zucchini

3. Fruit swap: try adding some pineapple, peaches or even diced strawberries for a fun twist on the flavors.

4. Options: You can substitute cilantro with parsley

Ingredients

  • 1 mango, diced

  • 1 small red pepper, diced

  • 1 small orange pepper, diced

  • 1 small yellow pepper, diced

  • ¼ cup purple onion, diced

  • ¼ cup cilantro. chopped

  • 2 plum tomatoes, diced

  • 1/2 avocado, diced

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ⅛ tsp black pepper

  • 1 lime, juices squeezed

Directions

  • Dice up all the ingredients
  • Place all ingredients in a medium bowl and mix to combine.
  • Squeeze juice of 1 lime
  • Garnish with extra cilantro.
