What Is a Mocktail?

A mocktail is short for mock cocktail and they mimic alcoholic cocktails without the alcohol. Don’t worry there are now zero proof spirits and bitters that become a super fun option. Non-alcoholic drinks are something everyone can enjoy year-round.

Apple Cider Mule Mocktail Ingredients

This apple cider mocktail is 3 simple ingredients, plus a few fun garnishes. Keep reading for notes on each ingredient and potential substitutions.

  • Apple Cider: I recommend using a local farm apple cider.
  • Tonic Water: You can soda water as a substitute.
  • Ginger Beer: Do not substitute for ginger ale. It will not taste the same. I recommend ginger beer from Fever-Tree. I bought mine in Shaw’s and Walmart.
  • Caramel Drizzle: You can make your own or buy it. I got mine at the grocery store in the coffee aisle.
  • Cinnamon Sticks: Do not sub this out for ground cinnamon.
  • Apple Slices: I like to throw these in my mocktail because it adds fresh apple flavor.

How to Make the BEST Apple Cider Mule Mocktail

1. ADD apple cider and tonic water (or non-alcoholic spirits) to a copper mug filled with ice. Top it off with ginger beer.

2. GARNISH with a drizzle of caramel sauce, stir with a cinnamon stick, and add an apple wedge. Serve!

How to make it Vegan/Dairy Free Caramel

3 Ingredient Vegan Caramel Sauce

Vegan Caramel Sauce is easy to make and perfect for topping non-dairy ice cream or any other dessert! Comes together in just 5 minutes.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Coconut Cream

  • ¾ cup Brown Sugar

  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch

  • add Salt (optional: pinch)

Directions:

  • In a small pan or pot, add the coconut cream, brown sugar and cornstarch. Then stir continuously while the coconut cream melts at medium heat. The mixture will get bubbly and almost foamy. Lower the heat to a simmer and stir frequently for about 5 minutes. If you want salted caramel, add a pinch of salt.
  • Remove from heat. The caramel can be used immediately or let it cool, and it will thicken considerably. Each time you go to use it, give it a good stir. Store leftover caramel in a covered glass container in the refrigerator for about a week.
